― FRAY I.Dの春の洋服はどうでしたか？気に入ったものはありましたか？

― How did you like FRAY I.D’s Spring collection? Did you find any favorite styles this time?

FRAY I.Dのコレクションは最高！　今着ているこのドレス(ムービー撮影時)がお気に入り。また、最後のカットで着た、プロジェクターで花を映した白いセーターもすごく可愛かった。あと、どれが良かったかな…。フローラルプリントをあしらったショートパンツとグレーのカシミヤセーターも着心地が良かったわ。

I loved the FRAY I.D Collection. This dress that I’m wearing right now is my favorite. I also really like the white sweater that I wore, which was in the last shot that we did, and we projected flowers on to it. And...what else was cute? There was a nice floral shorts with a gray cashmere sweater. They were very comfortable.

― この春、気になっている色やデザインは？

― Which colors and designs do you think would be your favorite for this spring?

私の場合、その日に着る洋服も、ショッピングをする洋服も、すべてその時の気分次第なの。だから、この春、私がどんなファッションに注目するかは予想できないのよ。その季節がやってくるまではね(笑)。ちゃんと、質問に答えられなくてごめんなさいね。

The thing about how I get dressed and shop is that I don’t think ahead. So I don’t have any predictions for what my favorite things might be, because Idon’t know until the season. Sorry.

― 今季、新しく取り入れようとしているファッションスタイリングはありますか？

― Is there a new fashion styling trend that you might want to try this season?

私は洋服が大好きだけど、不思議なことに自分を“ファッショニスタ”だとは思っていないの。だから、なんて言うのかな、そういう意味ではファッションスタイリングについてはあまり考え込まないほうだわ。私は、直感を信じるタイプだし、ワードローブで好きなアイテムを見つけては着る感じなの。例えば、洋服を見て「今、アシンメトリーが流行っているわ」とか「チェック柄が、今季はきそう」という考え方はしないで、その時、惹かれたアイテムを着るから、未来のトレンドについての質問には、あまり答えられないの。私は、ファッションの予言者ではないしね(笑)。

It’s so weird. I love clothes but as I said, weirdly I wouldn’t call myself a fashionista. So I don’t obsess about it in that sense, and I don’t really know what to say. I just go in instinct and go and find things in my wardrobe that I like, but I don’t think of it as in ‘oh the asymmetrical things are really in’ or ‘plaid will be massive this season’. It depends on what ever my eyes are drawn to at that particular time. So, any future questions I can’t really answer. I’m not a fashion psychic!

― 日本の女性はもちろん、多くの女性がアレクサに注目しています。その美貌やセンスを失わないために努力していることはありますか？

― Many women, not to mention your Japanese fans, admire you a great deal. Isv there anything you do to maintain your beauty and great sense of fashion/beauty?

美貌のために何か!?　水分をたくさん摂るようにもしているけど、人生を楽しめる時に楽しむことがいちばん!!　ミイラのように保管されて美しさを保ちたいとは思わないわ(笑)。今まで、本当に良い経験ができたけど、明日は全部ダメになるかもしれない。その時は、他の方法を考えればいいと思うの。

Anything to maintain my beauty? I do moisturize a lot, and I try to drink a lot of water. And you know, I think you should have fun while you can really. It’s not like I’m trying to preserve myself like a mummy. I’ve had a lovely run, and if it all goes to shit tomorrow, then I’ll have to work out something else.

― いつも撮影中に考えていることや心掛けていることはありますか？　今回の撮影中には、どんなことを考えていましたか？

― Is there something you always think about or keep in mind during photo shoots? What were your thoughts during the shoot today?

シューティングの時は、常にベストな作品を残すことを考えているわ。モデルをするときの選択肢は2つ。1つ目は、スタッフやカメラマンの指示を理解して、丁寧に従うこと。2つ目は、自分が“アート・ディレクター”になったつもりで、いろいろ考えてみること。後者は、コンセプトにもっと入り込んで、仕事をより“面白く”することができるわ。私は今日のカメラマンのガイとの撮影で、ストーリーラインに沿うように努力したり、アイデアを出したり、クリエイティブな共同作業ができたと思うの。すごく楽しかったし、ガイと仕事ができて光栄だったわ。

During photo shoots, I’m often just thinking about how to make the best picture that I can possibly make. I think there’re 2 options when you are modeling. It’s either you check out, follow directions and try and understand it. Or, if you want to make it interesting for yourself, then you sort of think more like an art director and really involve yourself in the concept. Today, shooting with Guy, which is always a pleasure, it was quite a collaborative creative process. I was coming up with some little ideas and trying to go along with the story lines. It was fun.

― どんな女性をリスペクトしますか？

―What kind of women do you look up to?

私が尊敬するのは、自立した女性たち。他人を喜ばせるためではなく、自分が好きな洋服を着ていて、自信に満ち溢れている人。私のスタイルアイコンはみんな自然体で、自分自身に満足している。ファッションから、それが感じ取れるほどのね。私のセンスとは全く違ったスタイルでも、オリジナリティが感じられる人が好き。例えば、最近、ディータ・ヴォン・ティースに会ったの。彼女のスタイルを尊敬するわ。すごくユニークで細部にまでこだわっているから、私には着こなせないけど、本当に良く似合っている。自分のスタイルを確立していて、こだわりがある人が好きなの。

I look up to women who are independent and women who dress to please themselves and look confident. A lot of my style icons always looked so comfortable in their own skin, and that sort of came out through what they were wearing. I like people that are original, even people that have a different sense of style to me. I just met Dita von Teese, and I really admire her style. It’s nothing that I could pull off or put together because it’s so specific, but I think that she looks beautiful. I like when people really commit to a thing.

ハッピーにしてくれるのは、友達と遊ぶことよ。答えとしては、ありきたりかもしれないけど、本当のことなの。似た考えを持った人たちと一緒にいると、刺激的ですごく楽しい。笑いがとまらない時もあるし。そういった瞬間が、私にとっての楽しい時間なの。

A thing that makes me happy is hanging out with my friends. It’s a classic cliché but that’s because it’s true. When you are with like-minded people who make your brain fizz, i’ts really good fun. Sometimes you get that firework thing going on and you can’t stop laughing. Those are the good days.

― 10代の頃など、ファッション誌や女優、アーティストなど、何かお手本にしていたものはありますか？

―As a teenager, were there any fashion magazines, actresses or artists who inspired you?

ティーンの時は、馬が好きだったから、『Horse And Hound(ホース アンド ハウンド)』という雑誌をよく読んでいたの。とても面白かったわ(笑)。好きな女優は、クレア・デインズだったわ。好きなキャラクターは、『ネイバーズ』『ホーム＆アウェー』(イギリスで人気のオーストラリアのドラマ)に登場する女の子たち。アーティストだったら、スパイス・ガールズに、とことん影響されたわ！　彼女たちのガール・パワーが大好きだった！『アニー・ホール』(映画)もクールよね。

As a teenager I liked horses so I used to read Horse and Hound magazines, which was very inspiring. I also liked Clair Danes in my so called life. Any girl characters in Neighbours or Home and Away, Australian soaps. The spice girls were incredibly inspiring as artists! I really liked their girl power. Anny Hall, I thought she was really cool.

― 好きな香り・香水はなんですか？

― What are your favorite scents/fragrances?

好きな香りは、メンズフレグランスであることが多いわ。それか、何かマスキュランなもの。ローズやフィグ、サンタルを配合した香りも好き。フローラルすぎるものは、あまり好きではないわ。

My favorite sense and fragrances are usually men’s fragrances or something quite masculine. I like rose, santal, and fig. I don’t like overly floral things.
